Born in 1956 in Kolkata she became the first woman to lead the State Bank of India, a historic appointment that transformed perceptions of women's leadership in India's financial sector.
## Transforming Indian Banking
During her tenure as SBI Chairperson Bhattacharya oversaw the merger of six associate banks with SBI. She championed digital banking, financial inclusion for rural populations, and women's access to financial services.
## The Digital Chapter
Following SBI Bhattacharya became CEO of Salesforce India where she has driven the adoption of cloud computing and AI-driven solutions across India's rapidly digitalising economy. pioneering leadership in Indian banking and technology and for her role in strengthening the financial and digital economy bridges between India and the UAE.
