As Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC from 2010 to 2016, she transformed what many considered an impossible negotiation into historic consensus. TURNING THE TIDE ON CLIMATE COP28 When Figueres took office global climate negotiations had collapsed at Copenhagen. She spent six years rebuilding trust and momentum leading to the Paris Agreement, considered the most significant multilateral achievement of the 21st century.
