Biography
Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka is Uganda's first wildlife veterinarian and a leading expert on mountain gorilla conservation. Born in Kampala in 1970, she founded Conservation Through Public Health 1970 in 1999, pioneering the One Health approach linking human, animal, and ecosystem health.

Her innovative model links the health of mountain gorillas — one of the world's most endangered species — to surrounding human communities. By improving local healthcare access and reducing disease transmission, CTPH has achieved measurable improvements in gorilla population health.
